Regionals
The Warriors season came to an end today with a 5-1 loss to Montini. Ryan Kramer got the start for the Warriors and pitched well expect for two pitches. Those two pitches combined for three runs for Montini and the Broncos did not look back from there. Matt Brandys had the only RBI for the Warriors with a RBI single in the bottom of the second. JD Joiner was the only Warriors with multiple hits, he went 2-3 with two singles.
Top of the First: 0-0
Ryan Kramer gets the start and goes 1,2,3
Bottom of the First: 0-0
McNally leads off the inning with a single but is called out when interference is called on Jake Cousins. The Warriors do not score.
Top of the Second: 0-0
Kramer allows a double and a walk but does not harm him. Still knotted at 0-0
Bottom of the Second: 1-0
Sandberg ropes a single and then steals second. Matt Brandys digs in and ropes a RBI single for the first run of the game.
Top of the Third: 1-3
The inning is lead off with an infield single and the next batter pounds a two run home run to left field giving Montini the lead. Kramer then gets a fly out and then allows a single. He picks the runner off in a rundown but then allows another home run.
Bottom of the Third: 1-3
Nothing doing for the Warriors.
Top of the Fourth: 1-3
Swaney comes in for the Warriors and shuts down the Broncos going 1,2,3
Bottom of the Fourth: 1-3
Joiner ropes a single but Warriors cannot bring him home. I am joined by a Wheaton Academy student who vents about the annoying sound affects during the game. The affects are annoying, but complaining during a hard game just makes things worse.
Top of the Fifth: 1-3
Swaney gets two groundballs and a strikeout to start off the inning. After a long at bat the umpire’s ran out of baseballs because there were so many foul shots.
Bottom of the Fifth: 1-3
Boggs hits a single and then advances to third on an over throw. But the theme of this game, the Warriors can not capitalize.
Top of the Sixth: 1-3
Swaney goes 1,2,3
Bottom of the Sixth: 1-3
Swaney and Joiner both get singles. Swaney advances to third on a fly ball hit by Fritz. With ducks on the pond, the Warriors cannot capitalize.
Top of the Seventh: 1-5
Montini seals the deal scoring two more runs in the top of the seventh.
Bottom of the Seventh: 1-5
Boggs reaches base on an error and McNally reaches on a HBP but once again are not brought home. Warriors are eliminated from regionals.
