Warriors Beat Marshall in Double Header

Warriors Destroy Marshall in a Double Header
The Warriors played a double header this weekend against Marshall High School. In these two games the Warriors scored a combined 40 runs! In the first game the Warriors won 20-0 and won by the slaughter rule. They started out strong, scoring 19 runs in the first two innings of the game! Some big performances came from Trevor Swaney, Luke Boggs and Luke Thorson. Swaney was 1-2 with four RBI’s, Boggs was 2-3 with three RBI’s and Thorson was 1-2 with two RBI’s. Max Ishikawa took the win for the Warriors pitching three innings, struck out five, allowed one hit and did not allow a walk. Jerry Budzisz also saw some action pitching two innings, allowing one hit and did not allow a walk.
In the second game the Warriors destroyed Marshall again, winning 20-10. The fourth inning was huge for the Warriors, scoring 12 runs. JD Joiner, Jake Cousins, Tate Fritz and Trevor Swaney all had big games. In this game, Cousins was 2-4 with four RBI’s, Fritz was 1-3 with a three run home run, and Swaney was 2-2 with three RBI’s. The biggest performance came from JD Joiner who was 4-4 with five RBI’s. Budzisz took the win pitching 3.2 innings and striking out seven.
The Warriors next game is Monday at Aurora Christian. This is one of the games highlighted by Coach Byrne as huge at the beginning of the season. With this double header win the Warriors advance to 10-3 in state.
